Chara/Muskgrass

Chara/Muskgrass

What Chara Looks Like:

Chara1

Chara in Pond

Chara2
Chara is often called muskgrass or skunkweed because of its foul, musty almost garlic-like odor. Chara is a gray-green branched algae that is often confused with submerged rooted plants. Chara has no flower, will not extend above the water surface, and often has a "grainy" or "crunchy" texture due to calcium deposits on its surface. Chara has cylindrical, whorled branches with 6 to 16 branchlets around each node.

How to Treat Chara:

Algae Defense Algaecide-
Use Algae Defense where chara is in water less than 4 feet deep.

Mix the Following into a Tank Sprayer:
This solution treats 2,000 square feet
- 1 Quart Algae Defense
- 1 to 2 gallons of water

Restrictions: No water use restrictions. Do not use in ponds containing Koi or Goldfish. If treating water that contains Trout, the KH (carbonate hardness) must exceed 50 ppm or trout will be harmed.

THEN
Use The Airmax® Eco-System's 4-Step Process to keep your pond healthy all season.
